In 1994 Animal Protection of New
Mexico compiled euthanasia data for New Mexico. The number of animals
euthanized and recorded is astounding and clearly indicates the
need for aggressive, state-wide spay and neuter programs. Please
note, not all areas of the state have shelters, animal control or
humane societies, and not all areas record this data. These figures
do not include animals who are killed, either accidentally or purposefully,
outside of the shelter or pound environment.
